ADDITIONAL FEES AND LICENSING DISCLOSURE
I understand that the $49 LATS Tax Law Training Program fee does not include any federal or state registration, licensing, education, fingerprinting, bonding, insurance, software, bank-product, electronic-filing, or other professional expenses.
Depending on my location, experience, credentials, and selected Tax Pro category, I may be responsible for the following:
• IRS PTIN: approximately $18.75 annually
• IRS EFIN application: no IRS application fee; eligibility and suitability requirements apply
• Annual Filing Season Program (AFSP) education: approximately $39.95 electronically or $69.95 with printed materials
• California CTEC 60-hour qualifying education: approximately $129.95 electronically or $179.95 with printed materials
• CTEC new-applicant fee and processing: approximately $102
• CTEC initial registration and processing: approximately $35
• California Live Scan or fingerprinting: approximately $50–$80, depending on the provider and location
• Required $5,000 California tax preparer surety bond: approximately $25 annually; actual premiums may vary
• CTEC 20-hour annual continuing education: approximately $34.95 electronically
• Additional software, insurance, business licensing, refund-transfer, bank-product, processing, chargeback, and operating expenses, when applicable

• Non-California Tax Pro: starting at approximately $67.75, including the LATS training fee and PTIN
• Non-California Tax Pro completing AFSP: starting at approximately $107.70
• New California CTEC applicant: approximately $409.70–$439.70 with electronic education
• New California CTEC applicant using printed education: approximately $459.70–$489.70
• California applicant requiring separate AFSP education: approximately $449.65–$479.65
• California annual renewal: approximately $113.70 when completed on time
These amounts are estimates and may change based on government fees, registration cycles, education providers, fingerprint vendors, bond companies, software arrangements, state requirements, and my individual circumstances. LATS does not control fees charged by the IRS, CTEC, education providers, government agencies, financial institutions, or other third parties.
By signing below, I acknowledge that I have reviewed and understand the estimated costs associated with becoming or remaining a LATS Tax Pro. I understand that completing this intake form, paying fees, or participating in training does not guarantee employment, independent-contractor placement, credential approval, EFIN approval, client assignments, income, or a specific number of tax returns.
